3rd Shift Graveyard with ‘Charlie G’

On Air:

Mon - Fri: 12:00 am - 5:00 am

MEET CHARLIE G!

HOMETOWN:  Lexington, Kentucky

HOBBIES/SPORTS:  Bowling, billiards, playing guitar, dominating on bass, and singing.  Side note:  If being a sugar baby ever pays off, the first thing I would do is become a Luthier and build guitars all day.

BANDS/ARTISTS I’VE MET:  Huey Lewis, Tommy Emmanuel, and Durand Jones & The Indications.

FAVORITE FOODS:  While pretty basic across the board, Grilled chicken, raw vegetables (I LOVE LETTUCE), and plain pancakes (no syrup or other toppings – don’t judge me).

FAVORITE ARTISTS:  Although the list is pretty extensive, a few are Durand Jones & The Indications, Tom Petty, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, U2, Chris Stapleton, The Dramatics, The Stylistics, The Beatles, John Prine, Aerosmith, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Freddie King, Tommy Emmanuel, Robert Cray, Bob Seger, Justin Johnson, The Band, Bryan Himes, Thee Sacred Souls, The James Hunter Six, The Kinks, Golden Smog, Toto, Al Green, The Guess Who, KISS, Donny Hathaway, CCR, ELO, and Jeff Beck.

VACATION SPOT:  I prefer cooler temps to warmer temps so somewhere in the mountains.  I’d also like to go to Ireland and Iceland one day (the second thing I would do if being a sugar baby ever pays off).

MOVIES:  Samson & Delilah (1948), Soylent Green, The Shining, Road House (1989 – sorry Jake, you really tried and I appreciate your effort), Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, The Karate Kid (1-3), Rocky (1-6), and Captain America: The First Avenger.

TV:  Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, The Mandalorian, Cobra Kai, Documentary Now, and Stranger Things.

TATTOOS: I have one – Elvis’ TCB symbol on my right shoulder.  I had aspirations of being a full-time Elvis impersonator as a child (my first paying music gig was for that) and it was between TCB and Felix the Cat’s smiling head.  I felt like Elvis would be easier to explain/justify to my children one day.

FAMILY:  I have two kids (Leo, 21 and Lyric, 15) who are the reason I’m still breathing and I maintain a crippling fear of commitment otherwise.

BRUSH WITH GREATNESS THAT DIDN’T GO SO WELL:  So my one tattoo was done by Charlotte at Tattoo Charlie’s (a legend in that space here in Lex).  I’ve had a healthy fear of needles for as long as I can remember and typically pass out when they are involved (somewhere I got it in my mind that a tiny bubble or air will get into my veins).  I explained this to her and explained that I’d rather they just go ahead and finish if I fainted.  She agreed, started and what happens…happened.  I wake up to learn that they don’t tattoo unconscious people and left with only the outline.  Two years later I would decide to get it filled in and not unlike a bad movie remake, history repeated itself.
